Donald Trump is on tape bragging about sexually assaulting women—saying that “when you’re a star, they let you do it … Grab them by the pussy.” The police are tasked with handling sexual assaults as crimes. So this is interesting, in an appalling way:

Gosh, yes, this really says “trust your local police,” doesn’t it? About as much as this, from the Justice Department’s investigation of the Baltimore Police Department, does:

For example, one sex crimes detective told other officers and victim advocates at a party, "In homicide, there are real victims; all our cases are bullshit." He later corrected himself: "90 percent." In another case, a prosecutor wrote to a Baltimore officer, "This victim seems like a conniving little whore. (pardon my language)." "Lmao! I feel the same," the officer wrote back.
Maybe Trump and the police are a better match than a lot of Americans would like to believe. His  2005 comments—and his insistence that they were just “locker room talk”—should be an opportunity for the Fraternal Order of Police to let us all know where they stand on sexual assault.
