Don't Count Them Out

Don't count out the Republicans for any length of time. Leadership in Congress and the White House is mostly a matter of personality. Right now, the Democrats have the edge, but if the Republicans were, in a few years, able to find a silver-tongued centrist (a Colin Powell type), they might well win back the minds and hearts of a majority of the voters.

In the meantime, the Republicans are a gift that just keeps giving. Their leadership is inept and poorly spoken. The following is a clip from CNN.

Democrats will continue Wednesday to portray Rush Limbaugh as the spokesman for the Republican Party by launching a Web page that mocks GOP leaders for apologizing to the radio host for criticizing or publicly disagreeing with him.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is hosting the page — www.imsorryrush.com – which allows visitors to create an apology to Limbaugh on behalf of Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Georgia; South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford; or Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele.

I checked out the website and it's just a "fill-in-the-blank" sort of page, so it wasn't as cute as it might have been.
