Liberals Beware!

I have come to the conclusion that ignorance and stupidity are contagious. When people start watching Fox News and hanging out with other conservatives, the idiocy seems to spread and even fall to depths that one could never have imagined. Liberals, don't get too close to conservatives - the stupid seems to be spreading.

Republicans have vivid imaginations and utilize that skill to feed their fears.

The crazy Republicans

About 45 minutes ago, as I start this post, Morning Joe had some crazy-ass conservative Republican Congressman on the air who, after some prodding finally admitted that he would NEVER vote for a budget plan that included tax increases, even if there were large spending cuts included. He insisted that spending cuts were the only way to cut the nation's deficit. He further declared that he wouldn't vote for any bill restricting assault weapons in the U.S.

The entire panel on MJ was staring bug-eyed. Danny Deutch jumped right in the man's face about his lack of willingness to compromise. Joe Scarborough was incensed that this idiot would suggest that Joe was politicking the Connecticut shooting in order to ban hand guns.

Unfortunately, the video has not been posted - at least yet - I will check back later today. It is one of the most demonstrative exchanges I have seen on TV yet of why the U.S is in such deep shit - we have segments of our population that are absolute assholes, and they are electing their own to Congress.

However, there is a clip available of Eugene Robinson's (Washington Post) response.

Republicans - fucking stupid

There are nearly as many Republican "funny" political images as there are liberal ones. I do my best to pass over them, but sometimes you've just GOT to respond.

Just when you think...

Just when you think you can't find any more proof that Republicans are dumber than a box of rocks, along comes something like this...

Calling Out Stupidity

The Plum Line Greg Sargent's blog
German Reporter To Senator Inhofe: “You’re Ridiculous”

Via Steve Benen, GOP Senator James Inhofe apparently journeyed to Copenhagen to let the pointy-headed Europeans know that America damn well isn’t doing anything about global warming anytime soon. Once there, he had an amusing exchange with a group of reporters:

Inhofe’s aides eventually rustled up a group of reporters, and the Oklahoman — wearing black snakeskin cowboy boots — held forth from the top of a flight of stairs in the conference media center.

“We in the United States owe it to the 191 countries to be well-informed and know what the intentions of the United States are. The United States is not going to pass a cap and trade,” he said. “It’s just not going to happen.”

A reporter asked: “If there’s a hoax, then who’s putting on this hoax, and what’s the motive?”

“It started in the United Nations,” Inhofe said, “and the ones in the United States who really grab ahold of this is the Hollywood elite.”

One reporter asked Inhofe if he was referring to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Another reporter — this one from Der Spiegel — told the senator: “You’re ridiculous.”

Republican Protesters

One Thing you can say about those who profess to believe in conservative principles even though it is not in their own best interests - they is STOOPID. (I think the signs are supposed to read, "Euthanasia.")

Conservatives Continue to Reinvent the Meaning of The Word "Stupid."

From Boing Boing

U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook says Obama can't be president because he hasn't proven he was born in the United States. Therefore, he [Cook] refuses to be deployed to Afghanistan.
[Cook] and his lawyer Orly Taitz have filed a lawsuit so the Major does not have to go to war and fight in Afghanistan because that would be, ”in violation of international law by engaging in military actions outside the United States under this President’s command.”
Obama-Time-Travel-Coverup Birthers insist that a giant conspiracy has taken place. The birth certificate showing that Obama was born in Honolulu in August 1961 is fake, they say. Birthers are also certain that some kind of time travel treachery has been undertaken by shadow pinko government agents, who warped themselves back to 1961 to insert notices in the Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star Bulletin saying that "Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama" gave birth to a son on August 4, 1961.

Heh heh. What an idiot. And what an idiot lawyer. Even if Barack wasn't a legitimate President of the U.S., the soldier still has to follow the orders of his commanding officer - and that's not Barack - that's a General somewhere up the chain of command.

If it weren't for conservatives, we'd have only about half of the stupid in this world to enjoy. Thanks, morons.

Fighting the Strawman

It's funny, in a way. Conservatives tend to be so anti-intellectual that they actually seem to enjoy being stupid. Recently they have been writing and emailing Congress against the re-imposition of the Fairness Doctrine, a law that used to require that TV and radio stations utilizing the public airwaves present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was (in the Commission's view) honest, equitable and balanced. But no one in Congress or the White House has actually put forth any bills.

Now some conservatives are on the war path to defeat mythical legislation that would broaden abortion rights.

From Time magazine...

The U.S. Catholic Church's crusade against the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) has all the hallmarks of a well-oiled lobbying campaign. A national postcard campaign is flooding the White House and congressional offices with messages opposing FOCA, and Catholic bishops have made defeating the abortion rights legislation a top priority. In the most recent effort to stop the bill, Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia sent a letter to every member of Congress imploring them to "please oppose FOCA."

There is only one hitch. Congress isn't about to pass the Freedom of Choice Act — because no such bill has been introduced in the current Congress.
Just think of the outrage the Church and the conservatives have built up - probably donating money to the cause, sitting down to write a torrent of mail (electronic and otherwise) all in the name of - nothing.

Republican Simplicity

This de-motivator style image and commentary appears to be done by a neo-conservative who is still supporting GWB and his policies. The author of this piece seems to be unsure how liberals and independents can find Bush to be both evil and a despot. I, myself, don't see any contradiction here - seems like we could find lots of despotic rulers who were evil - and Robert Gabriel Mugabe is only one of the more recent we can think of.

If nothing else I think it says more about the simple mind of the author than it does anything else. Which proves the point that Bush mostly appealed to the stupids.

Bush Explaining Himself

Bush has something stupid to say - as a matter of fact, it's just about anything he says.

Stupid is as Stupid Does.

I don't know what to say. It seems rather trite to suggest that Republicans, who seem too stupid to know that we're in a bad war in Iraq, who appear to be too dumb to realize that marriage between gay people will not denigrate their family values, are too idiotic to know when they're behaving badly.

On “America’s Most Wanted” television show, suspects often get identified after their pictures are aired. Such was the case when Larry Craig’s daughter, Shae Suzanne Howell appeared on ABC. Craig can add the arrest of his daughter to the list of unintended consequences he is racking up. This sad event proves that “no good deed goes unpunished.”

After her national TV appearance, a GUARDIAN reader put two and two together and sent this little unsolicited nugget late Wednesday from the Ada Sheriff’s warrant list: You would think the Boise police would go ahead and arrest the “stand up” character witness’s Larry had with him Saturday!”
