And so it goes...

THIS is why I hate to donate to charities for natural disasters.  I DO donate - but not as much as I would if I thought the contributions were going where they will do the most good. Although I'm located in the U.S., you can damn well be sure this true for our contributions as well.

Philippines aid scandal: Food flown in from Britain ends up in shops hundreds of miles from typhoon (Click on this heading to read more from the UK's Daily Mail)

  • Supplies have turned up on shelves of shops in the capital Manila
  • Equipment bought with UK donations have been locked up in warehouses
  • Rice and other food is being stockpiled and not given to needy
  • Charities express concern that not all donations are reaching disaster zone

I agree. I also would like to contribute, but I don't want it to be wasted. I've been looking at contributing through Foundation Beyond Belief so atheists/secularists can get credit for charitable contributions, but it appears that they reached their goal of $50K for CDRC, and Team Rubicon has handed off their operation to Relief International. Perhaps donating directly to RI is a good option? https://www.ri.org/donate/donate.php
