Snicker

Remember - the following is a statistic - it is "on" average and doesn't mean everyone...

ABC News reports:
Scientists at the University of California at Berkeley analyzed a person’s rank in society (measured by wealth, occupational prestige and education) and found that those who were richer were more likely to cheat, lie and break the law than those who were poorer.

“We found that it is much more prevalent for people in the higher ranks of society to see greed and self-interest … as good pursuits,” said Paul Piff, lead author of the study and a doctoral candidate at Berkeley. “This resonates with a lot of current events these days.”

Black and white

The world is not black-and-white, it is made up of shades of grey. If we apply our wits to try to understand the problems we face in the U.S., we know that there are a number of facts, some contradictory, to consider when forming an opinion. Take the economic problems faced by Washington these days - we ARE over-borrowed and the Fed Is printing money and people ARE out of work and we are NOT creating enough jobs to seriously reduce unemployment. We DO want government to stop spending so much money but we DON'T want Medicare cut or Social Security eliminated. These are complex issues and they require something other than simple-mindedness to deal with effectively.

But then you get this...

And you realize that a lot of people on the right in our political system are incapable of understanding an issue of any complexity. They must reduce it down to two sides (black-and-white) because that is all their minds are capable of handling at any one moment. It calls up images of the reports in the news recently that nearly 75% of those who receive government benefits don't even REALIZE that they are benefiting from the very social programs they vote against. Remember the tea party sign from last year that read, "Keep the government's hands off of my Medicare?"

As I said - it takes a simple mind without the ability to see shades of grey to be a right-wing conservative in the U.S. today. What amazes me most is how many of these folks are out there.

I couldn't have said it better myself...

“Here’s how he stacks up against others. Obama is at 50 percent positive. Mitt Romney is at 42 percent positive. Ice cream is ahead of both of them at 97 percent.” – Jimmy Kimmel
“Rick Santorum’s approval rating is 33 percent. His sweater vest comes in at 17 percent.” – Jimmy Kimmel
“The band Megadeth has endorsed Rick Santorum. I think I’m going to wait and see who Metallica likes.” – David Letterman
“There are 8 million dead people who are still registered to vote. As a matter of fact, they’re the group that’s most passionate about Mitt Romney.” – Conan O’Brien
“Mitt Romney is sinking in the polls. That is the magic of a Donald Trump endorsement right there.” – David Letterman
“Candidates must have a slogan. Ron Paul’s slogan is ‘Fear the Poligrip.’” – David Letterman
“CNN is letting viewers ask the candidates questions at its next Republican debate. It’ll be awkward when they’re like, ‘This question’s from Mark in Texas.’ Mark asks: ‘What else is on?’” – Jimmy Fallon
