New Arms Race

President Bush has advocated a very aggressive foreign policy ever since 9/11/2001 and it has not had a positive effect on the world view of the U.S. We are seen as war mongers in many parts of the world - and President Bush's new budget raises the bar on military spending again - even if you exclude the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I don't think we can get a new president soon enough.

Now this, from the BBC ...

Russia's President Vladimir Putin says the world is engaged in a new arms race and Nato is failing to accommodate Russia's concerns.

In a nationally-televised speech, he condemned Nato's expansion and the US plan to include Poland and the Czech Republic in a missile defence shield.
