Trying to understand the Christian God.
Can someone explain how this loving God could create us all, love us all, help us find our car keys, yet allow horrible things to happen to the most vulnerable among us? Logic, people, use some freakin' logic!

What is religion?
We all see religion differently. As I've pointed out repeatedly in this blog, it seems that nearly everyone feels they have the right to pick and choose which of the contradictory themes from within their Holy Book they will follow. Some Muslims point out that Islam is a religion of peace - and they point to passages in their Qur'an that support this theme. Other members of Islam commit suicide, stone sinners and wage jihad against anyone that pissed them off today - and they point to their favorite passages in the same book.
Christians? Same thing. Some see the hate, bitterness, discrimination, strict rules and intolerance of the Old Testament and wish to wage war with anything that is different from them. Others point to the love, sharing and nurturing taught (most of the time) by Christ in the New Testament. Take your pick - they're all delusional. If there ARE higher powers at work in this universe, and there may well be, we have not yet found them.
Following - some of the hate, bile and venom spewed out by some Christians in the US toward their fellow human beings - atheists - on just one blog. Just so you can get a better understanding of where religion can lead you.

Religion Is Nuts!
I rant a lot (maybe too much) about organized religion, but it is stupidity like this that keeps me doing it...
THE FATHER THAT RAPED THE 9-YEAR-OLD-GIRL WAS NOT EXCOMMUNICATED!
I guess because those church priests and bishops like a little rape themselves, now and again.
RIO DE JANEIRO — A Roman Catholic archbishop says the abortion of twins carried by a 9-year-old girl who allegedly was raped by her stepfather means excommunication for the girl's mother and her doctors. But that's not what REALLY makes me angry about the buffoons running the church. Did you notice something missing? Something unusual?
"The law of God is higher than any human laws," he said. "When a human law — that is, a law enacted by human legislators — is against the law of God, that law has no value. The adults who approved, who carried out this abortion have incurred excommunication."

It's Not Just About Rape -
Being forced to carry a rapist's child to term and then being in the position of having to raise and care for that child for the rest of her life - being reminded every day of the rape. Or having that child turned over to the state to be cared for in foster homes at the expense of the taxpayers. An unwanted child - the product of an unwanted relationship. Let's stop the stupidity.
