A Los Angeles-based law firm that discharged New Jersey Governor Chris Christie of his transgressions in the George Washington Bridge scandal gave $10,000 to a Republican group he leads.
.
According to CBS News, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher slid a hefty check to the Republican Governors Association just nine days before an internal probe of the issue was publicized.
.
Christie reportedly commissioned GD&C to check out whether the governor was involved with the scandal, in which members of his staff allegedly planned specific lane closures on the New York City bridge. The review ended by stating that Governor Christie "had no knowledge beforehand."
.
The law firm then donated $10,000 to the RGA on March 18. Christie is one of the chairs of this organization, and has participated in a slew of fundraising efforts for its representatives, CBS reported on Wednesday.
