Private information

I am a believer in strong government. There is much it can do to protect us and care for the weakest among us. I am willing to pay taxes for government to provide shared services. I am a liberal - a progressive.

What I am NOT in favor of having government do is spy on us, gather information on us and pursue us as if we were criminals or terrorists without justification. There are so many things that can go wrong here that it is impossible to build a list that includes all of them.  Below is just one that has already happened - the failure of the spies to keep their information secret from the rest of the world.
