Did You Know - Rule of Law

I am flabbergasted by the actions and words of the leaders in the Republican party - they ppear to me to be dishonest in every sense of the word. Is it just me, or is it a basic requirement that you must be evil to be Republican?

From the J-Walk Blog...

Slate asks, Does it matter if Karl Rove and Harriet Miers Testify under oath?

Bottom line: If a witness is sworn in and lies to a congressional committee, he may be prosecuted for perjury. If the witness is not sworn, he cannot face perjury charges but could still theoretically be prosecuted for "making false statements."

Real bottom line: It appears that Bush is trying to hide something.

Here's what Tony Snow has to say about this type of
executive privilege:
"Most of us want no part of a president who is cynical enough to use the majesty of his office to evade the one thing he is sworn to uphold -- the rule of law."

Oops, that was 1998 and he was talking about Clinton.
