Spicer Blasted McCain For Criticizing Trump’s SEAL Raid. McCain’s Response Is Perfect

By Colin Taylor Posted on February 8, 2017

The fallout from Donald Trump’s disastrous raid on an al-Qaeda camp in Yemen that left one Navy SEAL, Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens and thirty innocent civilians, including ten children, continues to snowball.

Yesterday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) roundly criticized the Trump administration for its failure to properly prepare for the mission and for missing its target entirely.  “While many of the objectives of the recent raid in Yemen were met, I would not describe any operation that results in the loss of American life as a success. Going forward, I am confident that our military will act on lessons learned from this operation to strengthen our fight against our terrorist enemies” said McCain in his statement.

In response, Press Secretary Sean Spicer made a horrifying statement today during his daily press conference, asserting that if an American life was lost, the mission was immune to criticism because it would “disrespect” the fallen. “I think anybody who undermines the success of that raid, owes an apology and disservice to the life of Chief Owens“ said Spicer.

Senator McCain, who spent several years in a Vietnamese prisoner-of-war camp after his plane was shot down, immediately refused to apologize and shot back in the way that only a true veteran could. “I don’t need to listen to that. My record speaks for itself.”

He went on to say:

If Donald Trump really cared about our fighting men and women, he wouldn’t have impulsively ordered an attack at dinner after being told President Obama wouldn’t have done it.

If he really cared, he would have waited until we had sufficient operational intelligence and backup preparations in place – or even ensured that the target was actually at the compound at all. One of the three U.S. officials said on-the-ground surveillance of the compound was “minimal, at best.”

Donald Trump’s use of our veterans and their sacrifices as political shields while disrespecting and demeaning the risks they take by not even bothering to be in the Situation Room as they were engaged in a ferocious hour-long firefight with terrorists is a truly repulsive hypocrisy and is just more evidence that he is a disgrace to our flag and to the office he supposedly holds.
