Did You Know - Scare Tactics Work Well

President Bush's poll ratings are lower than ever - he's now in the same range as Nixon following Watergate and Carter following the failed rescue attempt of American hostages held in the Middle East. On top of that, a new report just issued shows a significant failure of the new Iraqi government to meet any of the major benchmarks set by Congress last spring when the surge was getting under way.

What does George do? What he always does - heighten the fear level of the average American citizen. It's a tactic as old as the first governments. This week Secretary Chertoff of Homeland Security announced, without any corroborating evidence, that he had a gut feeling that the US would be attacked by terrorists this summer.

And guess what the MSM (main stream media) has done. They've reported all of this crap with a straight face and no one is asking any serious questions.

Some days I just can't even stand to look at the news.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has a "gut feeling" that the United States is at an "increased risk" of a terrorist attack this summer. But as White House officials admit, there is "no credible, specific intelligence to suggest that there is an imminent threat to the homeland."

But in reality, the President's policies in Iraq have increased the strength of terror networks worldwide and brought al Qaeda to Iraq. According to a Mother Jones study, "The rate of fatal terrorist attacks around the world by jihadist groups, and the number of people killed in those attacks, increased dramatically after the invasion of Iraq. Globally, there was a 607 percent rise in the average yearly incidence of attacks."
