It's about Obama
When the Republicans held the White House under G.W. Bush there was no argument over raising the debt ceiling; there was no argument about cutting spending (they increased it); there was no demand that Medicare and Medicaid be wiped out - they even passed an unfunded drug-rider (Plan D) to Medicare. Nope- all of the hoopla we're going through these days is because Obama (read "black man") is in the White House. The fear of "big government," as they are so fond of proclaiming, is only fear of a big government in the hands of minorities.

U.S. Catholics have an issue - fetuses or money?
Source: Daily Kos
-----------Catholic bishops to 'review' position that fetuses aren't people after all
from Daily Kos by rss@dailykos.com (Kaili Joy Gray)
Well, this certainly didn't take long:
Three Colorado bishops said on Thursday they will review a Catholic Church hospital's defense of a lawsuit that argues fetuses do not have legal status - apparently contradicting the Church's teaching on life issues.
The case stems from a malpractice and wrongful death lawsuit filed by Jeremy Stodghill in the 2006 death of his seven-month pregnant wife Lori at a Catholic hospital in Canon City, Colorado. Her twin fetuses also died.

The answer to all of our economic problems.
Saw this over on Google+ and thought it might cure a lot of what ails our economy today.
So why is there no maximum wage?
---Jonco Stl
Listen to Frank
If Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens can't convince Christians of the folly of their beliefs, then perhaps Frank Zappa can do it.
There he goes
There goes Christopher Hitchens - using logic again - and we know he's not convincing those who function based on belief.
It's all "W's" fault
It can't be said often enough - the huge debt and growing deficit really aren't Obama's fault - George W Bush was responsible for the debt and the decline in the American economy and Obama has had to maintain to avoid throwing us into a depression.
We are so owned
Here I just posted about the importance of the constitution in America, and now I'm doing a turnabout because we are owned, and I mean totally owned, by the monied interests in this nation. I'd wager that a lot of patriots are turning over in their graves. We suffer at the hands of the religion of greed, son't we?
The US Constitution
Our country is founded on a constitution - a secular constitution - and not on a religious tome. I hope the nation's leaders never forget that or it will mean a much more restrictive, unforgiving nation.
Working on the "gun" problem in America
"When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail." This metaphor so adequately describes the problem of the right-wing it is almost as if it was written for them. Their thinking is just so shallow that on any given issue they have only one tool. In the case of gun rights, all they read into the "gun control" issue is "confiscate all guns." They see no shades of grey, only black and white and so they want to shoot some more people in order to effect more saved lives by taking more lives. It borders on the insane.

Conservatives fight back against women in combat
Think Progress
-----------Conservatives are outraged over Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's decision to lift the ban on women in combat, which opens up more than 200,000 frontline positions to women. Opponents of the move have called it "humiliating" and dangerous to unit cohesion. On CNN's Starting Point, host Soledad O'Brien caught one such critic off guard by anonymously quoting a similar argument made during integration of African Americans into the military.
Professor Kingsley Browne, author of "Co-Ed Combat," argued that the military's physical standards would have to be lowered to accommodate women because there is "very little overlap in physical capacity between men and women." O'Brien asked him if he agreed with a 1941 quote blasting military integration from Colonel Eugene Householder without revealing its context:
O'BRIEN: I'm going to read a little bit from this colonel who said this: 'The army is not a sociological laboratory; to be effective it must be organized and trained according to the principles which will ensure success…Experiments are a danger to efficiency, discipline and morale and would result in ultimate defeat.'
BROWNE: I think that that's true. I don't think it's true with respect to ultimate defeat of the United States in a war. I think what's likely to occur though is the defeat of the United States in small battles, which means people are going to die. [...]
O'BRIEN: That was from a guy in 1941. And that argument was about not allowing black people in the military. That was his exact argument of why blacks should not be allowed in the military, because it's a danger to efficiency and discipline and morale and will result in ultimate defeat.
Better know your Bible
Just clarifying what Christians believe so that any of you on the fence, and reading this, will know what it entails.
