Republicans: Lies and misdirection
If Republicans can keep their followers looking the wrong way, they can continue to get a fairly decent number of representatives elected.

"There is a war on Christianity," Paul told an audience of mostly evangelical Christians and Jews during a luncheon at the annual Faith and Freedom Conference in Washington. "Not just from liberal elites here at home, but worldwide. And your government, or more correctly, you, the taxpayer, are funding it. You are being taxed to send money to countries that are not only intolerant of Christians, but openly hostile. Christians are imprisoned and threatened with death for their beliefs."
Rand Paul at the Faith and Freedom Coalition 6/13/13
To be followed by a much better quote-
"Yes, the long war on Christianity. I pray that one day we may live in an America where Christians can worship freely! In broad daylight! Openly wearing the symbols of their religion… perhaps around their necks? And maybe - dare I dream it? - maybe one day there can be an openly Christian President. Or, perhaps, 43 of them. Consecutively."

Hypocritical lying creeps - the Republicans - but then I repeat myself.
From Daily Kos...
[From the Daily Show with Jon Stewart]
Clip of Peggy Noonan on Meet the Press last week: "All three of these scandals makes a cluster that implies some very bad things. This is so broad. This IRS thing is something I've never seen in my lifetime."
Jon Stewart: Never in your lifetime have you seen a scandal this bad? What if a President secretly sold weapons to Iran in return for American hostages, and then used the proceeds to illegally fund a bunch of coked-up right-wing jungle rapists in Nicaragua? Ring a bell? Here's a hint: you worked in his White House as a high-profile speechwriter.

The Daily Show
A couple of days ago, Jan 8, Jon Stewart and the Daily Show did one incredible job over the first 2 of 3 segments in dissecting the discussion over gun control. If you've got some time, here is the link to the entire program...

John Stewart - Wisconsin
"I gotta say that's impressive how polite Wisconsinites remain in the face of an explosive, emotional situation. Seriously, dude. Fumble your order in a New York City Starbucks and watch how quicky the shit hits the fan."

Jon Stewart Does CNBC and Jim Cramer
You've probably seen this - Jon Stewart does a number on CNBC's stupidity...
Then I saw this report on Gawker...
And then, Jon Stwart addressed Cramer's response...
The Daily Show With Jon StewartM - Th 11p / 10c
Then I saw this report on Gawker...
The Daily Show's now-famous takedown of CNBC was peppered with embarrassing quotes by Fast Money host and comically inept market prognosticator Jim Cramer. Cramer thinks this is "absurd," and frankly his feelings are hurt.
"It rankles me," Cramer wrote today, that Daily Show host Stewart used a clip of him appearing to advocate investment in Bear Stearns stock. He has a point: In that particular segment, Cramer was talking about accounts at the investment bank, not stock, in response to a question from a viewer. Deposits at Bear Stearns indeed proved safe.
Funny, though, that Cramer is silent on the four other clips of him Stewart pulled, like the one where he said Bank of America shares, then trading in the 50s, were "going to 60 in a heartbeat" (they never made it and are now under $4); or that people should "buy buy buy" an "oversold" 2007 stock market priced at roughly twice today's levels.
At least Cramer responding to Stewart, skirting CNBC's official policy of ignoring the Daily Show and wishing it would go away. The newspaper-reporter-turned-hedge-fund-manager might be dispensing terrible financial advice, but he retains his touch for self promotion. As always.
And then, Jon Stwart addressed Cramer's response...

Stewart/Colbert 2008?
From the Center for American Progress - the Progress Report
And finally: The Stewart/Colbert dream ticket will have to wait. Jon Stewart dispelled any rumors he would appear with Stephen Colbert on a presidential ballot. Stewart said people wearing "Stewart/Colbert '08" t-shirts "are a real sign of how sad people are" about the country's direction. "Nothing says 'I am ashamed of you my government' more than 'Stewart/Colbert '08,'" he added.
