Republican hypocrisy on the economy

Republicans are acting all noble now over their position on the debt and the deficit. They pretend, as if no one can remember the recent past, that they have always been the party of restraint and frugality when it comes to spending money. They want voters to believe that their only real concern, other than controlling women, is to reduce your taxes for you - to make you wealthy and happy by making you pay all of their friends in the private sector for things the government is doing for you now. Things like health insurance (medicare and medicaid) and school for your children.

But in reality, it is all a charade. What they really want is to give more of your money to their pals. If they weren't lying to you, if they really were your friend in providing for a debt free government with low taxes, why did they take a deficit-free budget and equitable tax rates and run the deficit through the roof while giving bigger tax breaks to corporations and the rich? What do they think we are, stupid?

And to answer my own question - yes.

It's about Obama

When the Republicans held the White House under G.W. Bush there was no argument over raising the debt ceiling; there was no argument about cutting spending (they increased it); there was no demand that Medicare and Medicaid be wiped out - they even passed an unfunded drug-rider (Plan D) to Medicare. Nope- all of the hoopla we're going through these days is because Obama (read "black man") is in the White House. The fear of "big government," as they are so fond of proclaiming, is only fear of a big government in the hands of minorities.

Political Joke

The last four presidents were caught in a tornado and carried away to Oz. Taken before the Wizard, they were told they could each have one wish.

Jimmy Carter spoke first. "I need more courage," he said.

No problem," said the Wizard.

Ronald Reagan said, "I think that I need a brain."

Done," said the Wizard.

George H. W. Bush said, "I'm told I need a heart."

"I've heard it's true," said the Wizard. "Consider it done."

Bill Clinton was next, but he said nothing. "Well," said the Wizard with some impatience. "Speak up, what do you want?"

Clinton hesitated a moment and then he said, "Where's Dorothy?"
