Did You Know - Bill O'Reilly

Bill O'Reilly is a right-wing radio and TV host. He is a strong supporter of President Bush. He once wrote, "...healthy sex is a combination of sensible behavior and sincere affection." In 2004 he was sued by a former producer for sexual harassment. She accused him, in part, of making obscene phone calls to her. She claimed that during one of these phone calls he said to her, "I'd be rubbing your big boobs and getting your nipples really hard...and then I'd take the other hand with the falafel thing and I'd put it on your pussy." After learning that she'd taped the phone calls, O'Reilly stopped protesting his innocence on the air and settled out of court.

Which do you think was missing - the sensible behavior or the affection? Or maybe both?

Sigh - how many ways can you say it? The more conservative the voice on sexual behavior, the more perverted in the mind. O'Reilly is a little more in the public eye so he's just that much more obvious a choice as hypocrite of the year.

Did You Know - Mike O'Neal

In 2004, and just a few days after introducing his Defense of Marriage Act in the Oklahoma state legislature, Mike O'Neal showed his true colors. He was arrested after grabbing the ass of a woman in an Oklahoma bar and he was charged with felony sexual battery. He wound up spending 30 days in jail and subsequently did not run for reelection.

I'm telling you, whenever you see someone trying to save the world be legislating morality, you can bet your bottom dollar that the savior is a pervert of some sort. I think, in the long run, they are trying to save themselves and imposing their issues on everyone else.

Did You Know - Helen Chenoweth

Helen Chenoweth was indignant over Bill Clinton's sexual indiscretions while he was in the White House and his subsequent attempts to cover them up. In 1998 it was revealed that dear Helen, she of the higher moral standard, was exposed for having had a six-year affair with a man who was married to someone else. "I've asked for God's forgiveness and I've received it," she said.

I guess Bill Clinton wasn't as easily forgiven? Must be she's of greater concern to her God - the one she was probably screaming to while in the throes of ecstasy with her illicit lover - "Oh God. Oh, God! Forgive later for the sin I'm committing now!"

Asshole.

Did You Know - Henry Hyde

In 1998, Republican Henry Hyde was serving as the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee and vigorously leading the charge for the impeachment of President Bill Clinton over the President's alleged sexual indiscretions and subsequent cover-up. Not so surprisingly, it also came to light during this time that Rep. Henry Hyde had a five-year-long affair with a married woman that eventually led to the woman's divorce. Henry Hyde tried to cover-up the affair. He dismissed his sexual congress with a woman who was someone else's wife by declaring that it was a "youthful indiscretion" even though he was in his 40's when the affair took place.

Crazy Bush

Our President may be a madman. Driven by a lust for power and a love for war, it is clear that he is pushing as hard as he can for another war - this one with Iran. The following from Progress Report (2/12/2007) from The Center for American Progress.

AN 'ESCALATING TIT-FOR-TAT': Sunday's briefing accusing high-level Iranian officials of supplying Iraqis with weapons to kill American forces capped off months of escalation by Bush administration officials. In his Jan. 10 address to the nation on his new Iraq strategy, President Bush included "some of his sharpest words of warning" to Iran. "I recently ordered the deployment of an additional carrier group to the region," he said. This build-up is "the largest concentration of naval power projection in that region" since the start of the Iraq war in 2003. Vice President Cheney explained that sending the carriers "sends a very strong signal to everybody in the region" that "we clearly have significant capabilities...to deal with the Iranian threat." Shortly after Bush's speech, American forces stormed Iranian government offices in northern Iraq, detaining six people. Just weeks later, Bush confirmed he had authorized a Pentagon program to kill or capture Iranian operatives inside Iraq. Newsweek also notes, "The Americans have hinted that as part of an escalating tit-for-tat, Iranians may have had a hand in a [devastating] raid in Karbala on Jan. 20, in which four American soldiers were kidnapped and later found shot, execution style, in the head. U.S. forces promised to defend themselves." Alarmed by rising tensions between the United States and Iran, "Iraqi government officials fear their country is in danger of being dragged into the middle of a new conflict between its two main allies." The President's advisors "are effectively saying, 'Invade Iran. Then everyone will see how smart we are,'" said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform and an influential conservative who backed the Iraq invasion. One ambassador in Washington "said he was taken aback when John Hannah, Vice President Cheney's national security adviser, said during a recent meeting that the administration considers 2007 'the year of Iran' and indicated that a U.S. attack was a real possibility."

Did You Know - Bob Barr

Bob Barr is a Republican Congressman from Georgia. In 1996 he co-sponsored the Defense of Marriage Act, one provision of which would have stopped any states from allowing homosexuals to marry. Regarding his sponsorship, her declared "the flames of self-centered morality are licking at the very foundations of our society, the family unit." A few years later it was revealed that Bob had been sued by the second of his three wives for withholding child support. She also claimed that her staunchly pro-life ex-husband (Bob) had paid for her to have an abortion in 1983.

As I keep reminding you, the need to publicly proclaim support for moral issues usually means the person on the soapbox feels the need for external controls over his/her inner demons. Interesting, isn't it, that he's been married three times, yet feels there's something inherently good about keeping a marriage together? Yet another asshole.
