There were so many, it got rather boring so I stopped hunting the stories down. But I just ran across another good one and I'll post it for old-times sake...

Georgia's Republican House Speaker Glenn Richardson resigned today, a few days after his ex-wife in a television interview said she knew for a fact that the conservative solon had conducted an extramarital affair with a utilities lobbyist even as he championed legislation highly beneficial to the lobbyist's employer. What made this charge political dynamite is that House Democrats had filed an ethics complaint against Richardson in 2007 making that exact charge, which was briskly dismissed by Republicans.

A Democratic Sex Scandal

More outrage. It takes a special kind of self-confidence to step out as a gay politician and get elected, even in a city as liberal as Portland, Oregon. I'm sure Sam Adams has had to be strong and have an unbelievably strong sense that whatever he does and says is right. But there's also got to be a screw loose when he breaks the law or betrays the trust given to him by the public - that he was a moral person and deserveed public office.

A Democratic scandal - and I'm not very pleased about it. This stuff should be left to the Republicans. And if you're going to behave this way, stay the hell away from running for public office.

For thousands of gay Portlanders, Sam Adams' election last year fulfilled their most ardent hope: to finally transcend stereotypes of sexual identity.

His ascension to the mayor's office -- not as a symbol of progress but as a smart, hardworking technocrat -- marked a new phase in the relationship between Portland and its gay residents: the difference between having a place at the table and sitting at the head of it.

Now, the revelations surrounding Adams' sexual relationship with a teenager and his subsequent lies about it have sown anguish among gay Portlanders.

Whether they think he should resign or not, they say his fall from grace plays into the ugliest of stereotypes about gay men -- stereotypes that Adams himself decried when a potential primary opponent accused him of having sex with an underage youth.

The Ted Haggard Story Continues

If you've read my blog before, you know that hypocrites drive me crazy. None more so than religious hypocrites. I have no gripe with folks who have strongly held religious beliefs, even though I don't share those beliefs, but when they try to impose their values on the nation as a whole, then I think it's time to speak out and resist their advances.

Ted Haggard was/is one of those who most deserve our scorn. As the former head of a mega-church and the National Association of Evangelicals, Ted was adamantly against gay rights. Even though it has now been disclosed that he was/is gay, he continues to admonish those who believe gays should have equal rights under the law. (I don't care what rights they give gays in their church - it's up to gay folks to decide if they need to belong to a church that hates them.)

Now the story expands in scope. Ted will be featured in an HBO documentary and his former church is now letting it be known that his homosexual indiscretions extend beyond what Ted himself has revealed - he also had gay sex with a youth in his church to whom hush money was paid.

New Life had paid off one of his (young, YOUNG adult) victims; one of Uncle Ted’s congregants at the time according to the current New Life Pastor Brady Boyd. OOPS. Well, he didn’t REALLY say they “paid him off”, he said they did NOT actually pay him off; they just felt really sorry for the young man so they paid for his college education and paid for his counselling in exchange for his promise to keep his mouth shut about it. My bad — that misinterpretation could have happened to anybody, correct? My first thought was “hush money” but now I see how wrong I was upon second look.

Using Religion As A Cover

I do not understand how Obama can be so bright, yet allow so much of the Bush administration's program of faith-based charity work using government funds to continue.

To me, devout religion is often a cover for deeply flawed personality traits. The guy in the following story can't even claim "a moment of weakness." This went on for months.

Another representative of the faith-based political movement has been arrested on morals charges. Police have been looking for a man for years who solicited prostitutes on the Internet under the name “Sullivant Guy,” “Broad Street Guy,” “Toby” and “God O Thunder.” It turns out that “God O Thunder” is allegedly Robert Eric McFadden, who was the director of Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.

McFadden is accused of trading information about street hookers and online escort, including his personal recommendation of some prostitutes and ways to avoid arrest.

McFadden, 46, was charged with seven prostitution-related counts, including charges that he promoted a 17-year-old prostitute online.

I have said it over and over again - too often the religious (and the conservative) hide their criminal behavior behind their statements of piousness. They push some preconceived notions of morality on everyone else while they practice the most perverse sorts of behavior out of the eyes of their constituency. Sometimes I think that guys like this one should get DOUBLE the jail sentence because of the hypocrisy.

THE FLESH WAS WEAK: Yet again, a man has been arrested for soliciting sex with an underage girl, only to find that the object of his lust was an undercover police officer. In this case, police say, Joe Barron, 52, drove his wife's car from Plano, Texas, to Bryan with a box of condoms to meet the "13- year-old" girl after "weeks" of "sexually explicit" chats online and via cell phone. Officers arrested Barron, who immediately broke into tears and "said he was feeling guilt and shame and grief," a Bryan police spokesman said. Barron now faces up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, and has been asked to resign from his job -- as a minister at the Prestonwood Baptist Church, a "megachurch" in Plano that's so large, its 140-acre campus is known to more profane locals as "Six Flags Over Jesus". After his release on bail, police searched Barron's computer and found he was courting other teens, and arrested him again on six more charges. In a rare display of political hypocrisy, a longtime Republican lawmaker has resigned today after child pornography was discovered on his computer. Can you imagine such a thing? Let’s meet Maryland Delegate Robert A. McKee, 58, a 29-year state representative with a proud record of fighting sex offenders. We believe the appropriate metaphor here would be "textbook."

McKee, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, is a sponsor this year of several bills dealing with minors, including the "Child Protection from Predators Act" as well as a bill to collect DNA samples from sexual predators.

After just so many stories of the "family values" folks showing off just how shallow their beliefs really are, there's no more to say.

An alleged Illinois deadbeat dad whose ex-wife says he owes more than $82,000 in unpaid child support is running as a candidate for Ward 47 Republican Committeeman in Chicago, MyFOXChicago reports.

Another Gay Hypocrite

The perverts that chase kids and boys don't just hide behind the Republican Party - sometimes they hide behind the church. But we know all about that, don't we. It has been in the news a lot lately. So why do they keep it up when they know people are looking for them? They can't control it and they became religious leaders to hide their behavior in the first place.

A Vatican official suspended after being caught on a hidden camera making advances to a young man says he is not gay and was only pretending to be gay as part of his work.

In an interview published yesterday, Monsignor Tommaso Stenico told the daily La Repubblica he frequented online gay chat rooms and met with gay men as part of his work as a psychoanalyst. He said that he pretended to be gay in order to gather information about "those who damage the image of the Church with homosexual activity."

Another Hypocritical Pervert

I can't believe that there are a lot of men in this country who are interested in having sexual contact (read that in any way you like) with boys/children. The percentage of these folks that DO want to have sexual contact in a "deviant" sort of way that are Republicans who publicly chastise others for exactly these behaviors that they themselves exhibit must be smaller still. I mean.f you were a deviant pervert, wouldn't you keep your mouth shut and back into the darkness of the night? Right? Right? Is this Right?

Then how come there are so damn many of them that come to light? What is there about these deviant idiots that has them go public protesting their very own perversions? Can you believe it? Here's another one...
