Hypocrites rise to the top
Why do morons who talk-the-talk but can't walk-the-talk seem to rise to levels of prominence? Can't this assholes think and chew bubblegum at the same time? Man, I despise the jerks.

Anti-Drug Lawmaker Caught with Wacky Tobacky
Duuudde. You just blew my mind, man.
Republican NY Assemblyman Steve Katz has talked tough about the war on drugs. He voted against medical marijuana legalization just last summer. But remember, he is a Republican. So is it any surprise he was busted for speeding, and after the officer noticed a distinctive odor emanating from the car, possession of marijuana? Ooops.
State police said that a suspicious odor was noticed in Assemblyman Steve Katz's vehicle when they pulled him over for driving around 80 mph in a 75 mph zone at around 10 a.m. Thursday morning.
"After noting the odor of marijuana, a New York State Trooper found Katz in possession of a small bag of marijuana," a statement from state police said, according to the Times Union.
I'm sure he's got a good excuse to deprive ill and terminal patients the small comforts that he does not deny himself, right?

If only we had a brain...
but too often we react to situations based on faith and emotion rather than intellect. God forbid someone should be allowed some pleasure in this life without some feelings of guilt (dripping with sarcasm).

More on facts
Unless you're reading this in a news reader, you're probably seeing this post before you see the previous one I posted. I point that out because I was just addressing the need to carry out our political discussions by starting with facts and working from there. That message should never get old. Start with the facts.

The crazy, crazy south
The scene: Missoula (Mont.) County District Court. The charge: criminal distribution of dangerous drugs -- a felony. The drug: 1/16th of an ounce of marijuana police found in Touray Cornell's house. When potential jurors heard what the case was about, they staged a "revolt", District Judge Dusty Deschamps said. Juror after juror being considered for the case said they would refuse to convict anyone over such a small amount of pot. Deschamps polled the remaining 27 juror prospects, and 22 of them said they would not issue a guilty verdict in the case, saying that even holding a trial for such a "crime" was a waste of taxpayer money. "A mutiny," declared Deputy County Attorney Andrew Paul. Cornell agreed to a plea bargain in exchange for a year in prison, to be served concurrently to a year's sentence on a theft charge. Marijuana - A History In America
Marijuana is a fairly mild drug that was once legal in the US and became illegal for mostly economic reasons. Today possession of the drug is a crime and causes the incarceration of tens-of-thousands of our fellow citizens. A gross waste of our taxpayer money, IMNSHO.
