Picking on the Democrats

I don't usually post stuff that trashes the Democrats and liberals (I are one), but this is pretty funny.

Pelosi and Reid...

These are not my favorite people in Congress - how they ever got into leadership positions I'll never know. Compromises between real Democrats and blue-dog Democrats?

Why aren't we pursuing charges against Bush and Company for criminal activity like spying on Americans without warrants and using torture on our enemy combatants? Why aren't we standing up for fair treatment of people instead of cowering to the Republicans as if they have the only righteous stance in politics? Ugh.

Did You Know - Bush Loves Himself, But Not You

Yesterday, after meeting with his economic advisers at the Treasury Department, President Bush "vowed to veto spending bills that exceed his targets" for the fiscal year 2008 federal budget while accusing congressional leaders "of plotting the largest tax increase in history to fund an additional $205 billion in discretionary spending over five years." "If the majority in Congress gets it way, American families, small businesses will face a massive tax hike," threatened Bush.

"Today, the President misled the nation about the budget Congress sent him," replied House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). "The New Direction Congress passed a responsible budget that restores fiscal responsibility and makes up for the disastrous cuts the President has made to vital services for Americans." Congress's budget plan is only "seven-tenths of one percent different from his spending plan," she added.

In February, Bush presented a $2.9 trillion spending plan to Congress, "proposing to spend billions more to fight the war in Iraq while squeezing the rest of the government." The President's plan, which "relies on budgetary gimmicks and unrealistic assumptions" in order to appear fiscally responsible, freezes "the entire domestic side of
government" and would "force cutbacks that most Americans would view as painful and unnecessary." Despite Bush's budget bullying, Congress has stepped up to ensure that programs important to the majority of Americans remain solvent.

Did You Know - Rebuplican Obstructionists

Well, this probably wasn't politicaly correct, but it strikes at the truth...

The problem for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi isn't just President Bush. It's the Senate.

Pelosi sounded more apologetic than celebratory Friday when she announced with her Senate counterpart, Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democrats' list of accomplishments six months after they seized control of Capitol Hill and promised "a new direction" in Washington.

"I'm not happy with Congress, either," Pelosi, of San Francisco, conceded. She pinned the blame on "the obstructionism of the Republicans in the United States Senate."

Bush Reassured

In an attempt to reassure President George W. Bush, incoming Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Cal) met with Mr. Bush in the Oval Office today and promised to return his balls to him by early 2009.

Aides to Mr. Bush had indicated in recent days that he was "concerned" about the whereabouts of his testicles and was hoping that Rep. Pelosi would set a firm timetable for their safe return.
