House Speaker John Boehner is focused like a laser on jobs:

    STEPHANOPOULOS: You know, we asked-- our viewers for questions for you. And so many came in on the same exact theme. Where are the jobs? What is this Congress doing for jobs?

    BOEHNER: Well, that's interesting, George. Because it really is our number one priority.

And as if to prove the speaker's point, yesterday House Republicans announced they would vote next week on this crucial job creating measure:

    The House will vote next week on a bill banning abortions across the country after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Boehner explains the GOP's 'Vote No, Hope Yes' legislative strategy

When the House passed the Violence Against Women Act last week, it was the third time this year that House Speaker John Boehner relied primarily on Democratic votes to pass a piece of legislation. Today, he explained why he supported moving forward with the legislation even though a majority of Republicans opposed it:

    "We tried everything we could to get the differences in our conference resolved," Boehner said Tuesday of moving a Democratic version of VAWA last week. "And the fact is they couldn't resolve their differences. It was time to deal with this issue and we did."

So, according to Boehner, VAWA was a bill that needed to pass, and Republicans weren't capable of coming up with a version that could pass. The solution: push the GOP to the side and let the Democrats lead the way.

But even though Boehner has now allowed three votes so far this year on bills opposed by a majority of the House Republican Conference, he's not actually going against the wishes of his party. It's the exact opposite, in fact-a strategy that Ashley Parker of the New York Times dubbed "Vote No, Hope Yes."

The basic idea of Vote No, Hope Yes is that many Republicans realize that they can't stand in the way of must-pass legislation like the fiscal cliff deal, VAWA or Hurricane Sandy. At the same time, they can't bring themselves to support it, so they try to split the difference by allowing the legislation to come up, and then voting against it while simultaneously hoping it will pass.

Lest you forget how simple minded and malicious the Republicans are, here's a tidbit for you to ponder...

On its website and in an email Monday, House Speaker John Boehner’s office said President Obama needs to take personal responsibility for the droughtravaging the Midwest.

 Obama, “continues to blame anyone and everyone for the drought but himself,” reads a release from Boehner’s office posted online and distributed to reporters Monday. The quote was attributed to Boehner himself in a Financial Times story.

Boehner Wants Protection From Illegal Wiretapping - But Only For Himself

Chris Frates at the Politico reveals how Republican Leader John Boehner is seeking wiretap protection for himself, but not for ordinary Americans : When a federal judge ordered Rep. Jim McDermott to pay House Minority Leader John A. Boehner and his attorneys more than $1 million in damages and legal fees for leaking an illegally taped phone call to the media, Boehner said he pursued the case because "no one - including members of Congress - is above the law."

Why, then, is the Ohio Republican trying to squash similar lawsuits against telecommunications companies who cooperated with the government in warrantless electronic surveillance, ask the attorneys behind the class action suits.

The blatant hypocrisy on display here is stunning.

When ordinary Americans were being wiretapped, Boehner attacked them and their right to privacy, claiming "I believe (phone companies) deserve immunity " from the law. But when Boehner himself was being wiretapped, he had no hesitation to claim his own right to privacy, claiming "no one is above the law."
