Last I checked, still no new gun control laws.

Need a gun for self-protection?
You might want to think that through a little more carefully - there COULD be a lot MORE reasons NOT to have a gun in the house.
When did the mentally ill get a voice in American politics?
(We used to lock people like this up in mental institutions - now they walk the streets, are given the chance to speak publicly and even have a few followers, Doesn't it make your head hurt?)

A speaker at a tea party event in Texas recently suggested that that anti-tax lobbyist Grover Norquist was a secret Muslim because "he has a beard."
In a video posted by the Far North Dallas Tea Party on Thursday, Texas Eagle Forum President and former Chairman of the Texas Republican Party Cathie Adams presented evidence that Norquist was part of a "stealth jihad" in the United States.
Adams said that Norquist, who is married to a Muslim woman, was "trouble with a capital 'T'" because "he's showing signs of converting to Islam himself."
"As you see, he has a beard," she pointed out. "He's married a Muslim woman. But he denies that he has converted himself. He denies that."
"He and Karl Rove are very good friends. I don't like Karl Rove, and I certainly don't like Grover Norquist."
Adams went on to suggest that CIA Director John Brennan could also be a secret Muslim.
"Where is the outcry?" she asked. "Thank God that Ted Cruz is now in the United States Senate!"

The stupid - it hurts my brain.
From Think Progress
At Wednesday's meeting for ExxonMobil shareholders in Dallas, CEO Rex Tillerson told those assembled that an economy that runs on oil is here to stay, and cutting carbon emissions would do no good.
He asked, "What good is it to save the planet if humanity suffers?"
One good would be that humanity has a habitable place to live. And in acting to stop the increasingly dangerous effects of climate change, we could avoid a great deal of suffering. Tillerson missed the billions of dollars in damages, thousands of lives lost, millions displaced, and rampant ecological destruction due to the carbon emissions that cause climate change.

Republicans host the BEST scandals
From The Huffington Post...
Everyone loves a good political scandal!
There are three scandals in Washington -- at the same time -- any one of which Republicans believe could bring down the Obama administration!
Political scandals can fill the news cycle for hours on end. Juicy new details can keep it in the media for days. Fictional facts can drag it out for weeks.
A minor problem, a lapse in judgement, a mistake that can be easily fixed is not exciting. A party filibustering everything introduced by the President isn't, unfortunately, interesting.
But a scandal?
The three storms brewing on Capitol Hill are the Benghazi attack, the IRS improprieties and the AP phone taps. Flames of all three are being fanned by Republicans in an attempt to discredit the president by declaring each a scandal and implying White House involvement.
And Republicans should know a good scandal.
Let's see, there's the Iran Contra scandal under Reagan, and then there was Watergate under Nixon. Oh, and lying about WMD's to get us into the Iraq war. I think that was George W. Bush. Each pursued with direct knowledge and involvement of the president.
And, lest we forget, Scooter Libby, under the direction of the vice president, leaked the identity of a covert operative putting many lives in jeopardy.
Republicans try desperately to link the White House to each of these incidents. They're so desperate that they continue to waste taxpayer money to get at their trumped up truth with new hearings and new revelations including a phony quotation from an -mail regarding Benghazi proffered by Jonathan Karl for ABC News!
Scandalous

Tea party crazies
Think these conservative cooks are nice people? Think they are sane? I wouldn't bet any money on it.

In a Tea Party-sponsored conference call held on Wednesday night, a participant called for the assassination of Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) over her support for immigration reform.
----
Calling for the assassination of a senator is a federal crime punishable by five years of jail and may require a Secret Service investigation.

Senior citizen John McCain
It's crazy that this addle-minded old man is wandering the country, barely able to put words together to make an intelligent statement, appearing almost weekly on the Sunday talk shows, and he barely has a clue what's going on around him. What a freaking embarrassment to himself and our nation.
From Daily Kos...
I guess the bottom line here is that John McCain just isn't sure with whom he met. But he is sure of one thing: President Obama needs to listen to whoever they were and get America militarily involved in Syria by enforcing a no-fly zone and supplying weapons:
Well that makes total sense. McCain meets with some strangers, isn't able to vouch for their identity, but says the U.S. military should take on the responsibility of grounding the Syrian air force while we ship weapons to a bunch of people he clearly doesn't know.
What could possibly go wrong?

McCain unsure whether he met with rebel kidnapper during Syria trip
I guess the bottom line here is that John McCain just isn't sure with whom he met. But he is sure of one thing: President Obama needs to listen to whoever they were and get America militarily involved in Syria by enforcing a no-fly zone and supplying weapons:
The rebels told McCain, a prominent critic of what he calls the Obama administration's inaction on Syria, they wanted the United States to being supplying weapons and enforcing a no-fly zone in the country.
"Their message was, to be frank with you: they do not understand," he said. "They do not understand why we won't help them."

Conservatives in power
It's a curse on America to have so many hate-filled lunatics serving in our government, doing nothing to improve the lives of our citizens. Instead, they focus with the ferocity of a mad pit bull on destroying the credibility of a President who has tried to do some good.
