Whiter Goest The Rights In Our Constitution?

From Wired...

FCC’s Warrantless Household Searches Alarm Experts

You may not know it, but if you have a wireless router, a cordless phone, remote car-door opener, baby monitor or cellphone in your house, the FCC claims the right to enter your home without a warrant at any time of the day or night in order to inspect it.

That’s the upshot of the rules the agency has followed for years to monitor licensed television and radio stations, and to crack down on pirate radio broadcasters. And the commission maintains the same policy applies to any licensed or unlicensed radio-frequency device.

Did You Know - Follow-up to FCC Ruling

This is really beautiful. The FCC wants the news censored. They even want what their own agency chief says to have to be censored. I love it - these pious morons don't find the world to be exactly as they want it to be - so they try to change everything and everyone in it.

God Bless America!

From Advertising Age...

Saying he finds it "hard to believe that the New York court would tell American families that 'shit' and 'f---' are fine to say on broadcast TV during the hours when children and families are most likely to be in the audience," Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin J. Martin today blasted an appellate court decision that overturned the FCC's attempt to impose new limits on "fleeting expletives" on broadcast TV.

'I completely disagree with the court's ruling and am disappointed for American families,' FCC Chairman Kevin Martin said of the appellate court's ruling.

In a 2-to-1 vote, a panel of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York rejected the FCC's ruling that Fox Television Networks' airing of profanities by Nicole Richie and Cher during the 2002 and 2003 Billboard Music Awards amounted to indecency. The court majority also questioned whether the policy on expletives issued in reaction to Bono's referring to an award as "f---ing brilliant" during NBC's telecast of the 2002 Golden Globe Awards was legally sustainable.

Did You Know - FCC

They call it "regulation" - I call it mind control.

From the New York Times

If President Bush and Vice President Cheney can blurt out vulgar language, then the government cannot punish broadcast television stations for broadcasting the same words in similarly fleeting contexts.

That, in essence, was the decision on Monday, when a federal appeals panel struck down the government policy that allows stations and networks to be fined if they broadcast shows containing obscene language.

Although the case was primarily concerned with what is known as “fleeting expletives,” or blurted obscenities, on television, both network executives and top officials at the Federal Communications Commission said the opinion could gut the ability of the commission to regulate any speech on television or radio.

Did You Know - The FCC

FCC Saves America (From Wonkette)

As our once-great nation sinks ever faster down the tubes, let us pause to give thanks to the one group in government that is helping us maintain a shred of dignity: the fine bureaucrats over at the FCC. Though they’re usually quite busy keeping us from having to see titties on the teevee, they’ve taken a break from that to prevent air travel from becoming the actual torture of damned souls in hell instead of the mere approximation that it is today.

A majority of the FCC’s five commissioners will probably vote against a proposal that would have allowed assholes to jabber on their cell phones while the rest of us endure the awful process that air travel has become without even our precious liquids and gels to console us. Officially, the word is that there are concerns that the wireless signals will interfere with airplane navigation systems. But clearly the federal government has quite rightly determined that, if mobile phone use on airplanes were allowed, we’d see numerous 9/11-type disasters as airlines passengers everywhere seize control of planes and crash them into the nearest available building so they don’t have to listen to Jerky McTwat in seat 19B blathering on about his Tuesday night takedown or whatever.

So we salute you, FCC! Now get back to protecting us from nipples and the f-word.
