Trump: Shut up, Ben, I’m not picking a Democrat... and other VP news

No, Ben, pyramids aren’t for grain and Donald Trump isn’t considering a Democratic running mate.

Despite surrogate Ben Carson telling The Wall Street Journal on Thursday that Donald Trump would consider an independent or even Democrat for his running mate, the presumptive Republican nominee said Friday he would do no such thing.

"I would rule him out. Or her out," Trump said in a telephone interview with "Fox & Friends."

In other wild vice presidential speculation, several prospects have ruled themselves out: Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and… wait for it… Ben Carson. Drat!

Fortunately, Rick Perry’s still in the hunt and, might we add, lavishing Trump with praise.

"He wasn't my first choice, wasn't my second choice, but he is the people's choice.”

Hey, it’s a step up from Trump being a “cancer on conservatism” that needs to “excised and discarded.” Then there’s the weekend-bender notion that Trump might choose a Latina woman—New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, to be precise. Riiiiight. Here’s a little snippet on Martinez from early 2013, when the GOP was still licking its wounds over Mitt Romney’s loss:
