The NRA Consists Of a Bunch of Paranoid, Delusional Assh*les (Click here to read more)
April 28, 2014 By Allen Clifton.
Every year the NRA has their annual convention and every year I'm reminded how many crazy people exist in this country. Now before gun lovers lose their minds, let me profess that I'm a supporter of our Second Amendment rights. I believe it's perfectly fine to own hunting rifles and even a few handguns for self defense. Any time I write about guns, the common theme of what I believe lies in the fact that we can have the right to carry guns - but also maintain common sense when exercising that right.
,
But when it comes to the NRA, these people are a bunch of paranoid, mentally deranged lunatics. Now I'm not saying everyone who's a member of the NRA fits this description, but if we're going to let those speaking (and attending) their convention represent that group, that's exactly what they are.
,
These people are unhinged, pure and simple. They really live in a world where they seem to fear everyone and everything nearly all the time. They honestly believe that we own guns not just for self defense, but to "keep our government fearful of its citizens."
,
Uh huh.
,
And let's not forget their favorite line (and quite possibly dumbest thing I've ever heard), "The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun."
,
No, it's not. The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is to do your best to ensure bad guys don't get guns. But without arguing the semantics behind that idea, what their favorite line essentially says is the only way to stop bad guys is to let them commit some kind of crime, then a "good guy with a gun" can stop them.
,
It's almost like these people want reality to be comprised of scenes from bad action movies, where something horrible happens and then a "hero" shows up to "save the day."
,
Take these mass shootings. Sure, a "good guy with a gun" might have been able to take down the shooter before they had a chance to claim more victims, but there's just one problem - what about their initial victims? Are we essentially saying that a few victims is acceptable? Because that "good guy with a gun" can only act after the "bad guy with a gun" perpetrates some kind of violent crime.
,
No matter how old I get, I'll never understand the obsession people have with guns. People literally "love" guns. Hell, millions of people are obsessed with them. They hoard them like some crazy person obsessed with cats. Stock piling guns and ammo, fearful that the "government" will come knocking one day.
,
The NRA is nothing more than a fear mongering propaganda machine sponsored by big gun manufacturers with the sole purpose of targeting the most paranoid among us to stir up fear, so that it will translate into record sales of guns and ammunition. Which is exactly what happens.
