Hunting season should get to be a doozy

Back when I was a kid, our state allowed for one deer hunting day a year when hunters could shoot doe. This proved troublesome because hunters who seldom hunted would head for the woods on this given day and they would shoot at anything that moved. Accidental shootings of other hunters skyrocketed, and reports in the newspaper of hunters shooting cows, sheep and other farm animals weren't uncommon. My Dad and I usually stayed out of the woods on "doe day."

Just saying that with the proliferation of "assault rifles," meaning even semi-automatic rifles with forward grips and clips with as many as 100 rounds in them, it could be interesting to go do a little deer hunting in the future.
