Gun proliferation

The irony involved in the NRA's call for more guns as an answer to the gun problem has always struck me as strange. Sort of like saying the answer to a severe flu outbreak in the U.S. would be giving more people the flu.

More guns in the hands of more people is going to mean more people who shouldn't own guns owning them and there will be that many more opportunities for accidental shootings, armed robberies, murders, suicides, etc. Anyone with even half of a functioning brain should be able to see that. So what does that say about the NRA?
