Republican Respect

Not only do Republicans not respect YOU, they don't respect the WORLD we live in. Please, somebody, explain this irrational behavior to me.

Political images and commentary - progressive style.

Someday, folks in the U.S. are going to have to have a serious discussion on gun control.

Who donates to the candidates?
Government bought and paid for.

Let's clarify Obamacare with a fact.
Sorry conservatives, I know you won't understand the meaning of "fact," but there's no way around the use of the word.

Out found fathers' views on state and religion.

A behind-the-scene look at Republicans planning for the elections.

Republicans explain their tax plan.

Republicans lay out their jobs plan.

Conservatives and facts don't mix.

The Republican plan for America.

Neither political party is free from financial pressures.

Supply-side economics (trickle down) doesn't work.

A table on women's healthcare.

And the rich get richer...

From The Progress Report, 9/20/2012...

Forbes reports that the wealth of 400 wealthiest people in America jumped by 13 percent over the past year to an astounding $1.7 TRILLION. And we know that six of those of people — six of the very, very wealthiest people in America — paid absolutely no federal income taxes.

Political punditry

Wal*Mart and other huge nations chains (Target, Home Depot, etc) and their wealthy Republican owners are the biggest killers of small business in the country.

Our nation's corporations are sitting on vast sums of money and they are NOT creating jobs. If the GOP really wanted to help create American jobs, they would raise the tax rates, then offer tax breaks for the companies that add jobs to their payroll. If.

Do we continue to help the poor and the hungry, or do we cut them loose to suffer and perish?

Speaking of government programs...

The birth of a Republican.

Is there a liberal media bias?

The Federal Reserve has just begun its 3rd round of quantitative easing - buying up  government bonds with newly "printed" money - in order to provide more liquidity within the system. Guess where all of that new money is going?

Just trying to get a grasp on why anti-global-warming advocates are fighting so diligently against scientific learning.

A lot of American right-wing politics has to do with how some people read and interpret their religious books.

Someday, somehow, America must get its hands around gun control.

Wasn't he just bragging?

Governor Chris Christie was just keynoting at the Republican National Convention two weeks ago, and he was bragging on himself and the Republican way of doing things. He thought he was very successful. Maybe not so much. Click on the headline to read the Bloomberg article

Supporting small businesses

If you want more small business in the U.S., then you've got to do more to support unions. If Wal*Mart was constrained by unions and was forced to provide a living wage and superior benefits, small businesses would have a chance to compete.

Our government has lost its focus

As a liberal, I strongly support a strong government in the U.S., but do feel that it has lost it focus. In a country that is supposed to be of the people, by the people and for the people, far too much support is given to corporations. Example...

Did they build that?

Many conservatives (Republicans) question the need for a large government presence. They claim that Obama's assertion that nearly all of them have had governmental help in some manner is just plain wrong.

Well, the only folks who are wrong are the conservatives. They forget about things like low-cost loans, water and sewer service, garbage collection (or the operation of the dumps), roads, etc.  Here's just one example of one business owner who appeared in a Republican ad claiming that he and his family "built it themselves."

Politically motivated images and comments

Romney doesn't even know, understand or care about what his proposals actually mean. They are just words.

There is no perfect world for the conservatives to return to - they are just remembering their childhood when they had no responsibilities or clear sense of what was going on in the world.

Get a grip on Romney's beliefs as an elder in the Mormon church. They are even more insane than the beliefs of any other religion.

Who creates jobs? Perfect for today in light of the teacher strike in Chicago. Go teachers, go!

And they say conservatives want their country back? Then they should support the Democrats.

Bill Clinton could have been a three-term President.

The Tin Man wants a heart.

Dear Conservatives, please set your partisanship aside and understand what Romney really represents before you vote in November.

Mitt Romney is NOT going to have much to do with laws that support the little guy.

The more you get to know about Mitt, the less there is to like.

Carville makes a good observation on John McCain's choice for a VP candidate.

So many members of the Tea Party really don't understand that they select leaders who don't stand for their goals.

More political imagery and commentary

Most Republican supporters probably haven't listened to or understood the economic plan Romney has been espousing.

When conservatives want to take the country back to a simpler time, do they really know what the world was like at that time?

What is the Mormon take on evolution?

The capitalists in our society are hoarding cash and investing in non-productive hege funds - they are not creating jobs and their wealth is not trickling down.

If you want your country back, this would be a good start.

Bill Clinton - still a hero for those of us on the left.

Mitt Romney thinks corporations are people - clearly that's a judgement call based on his belief in economics first - people second.

Mitt Romney - before we elect him, "he's got some 'splainin' to do."

Romney was a venture capitalist when he ran Bain - he might better be called a Vulture Capitalist.

Mitt Romney - is he too forgetful to even remember his own life story - or does he just not care when he contradicts himself?

Why did John McCain pick Sarah Palin for a running mate instead of Romney?

The Republican pitch is a little tough to swallow.

Well said...

Dave Pacheco

"We don't belong to government, the government belongs to us"  @MittRomney

It's very telling that Romney's proxy tweeters don't think he is a member of the government: they think he OWNS it. Presumably since he OWNS the government, he can sell his share in it for a profit when he is done saddling it with debt and charging it millions in management fees.

Trying to get a grasp on the merits of religious belief

Is your love of religion fueled by your ignorance?

You may not agree with the tactics of these folks, but they get the source of their hate from the same book you worship.

Questioning the Bible - you can click on this image to enlarge it (if you are on a device that allows larger images).

So many on the religious right have little concept of what is really in the Bible.

Religious marriage counseling - and if you Christians have a problem with this representation, just read the quotes in your Bible about the man being the head of the household and the woman's opinion being worthless.

What does your God have against children?

If you're going to espouse a set of political beliefs based on what is in the Bible, then you damn well better support laws that enshrine ALL of what is in the Bible.
Cherry picking is not allowed.

I am - I am in awe of the false promises of religion.

Does your God hate - or just not care about - the children you say he created?

Traditional marriage - which started as a very weird relationship.
