Ollie has already hit the ground running in his new position, trivializing the Civil Rights Movement by equating with typical whiny white guy self-pity the societal stigmatizing of gun fetishism with the African American struggle against hundreds of years of institutional racism.

The offensive and absurd Racial Equality/Gun Nut Rights connection is one that the NRA has been using for a few years, even as they fanned the flames of white suburban paranoia with talk of inner city thugs descending on the suburbs to rape, murder and pillage in the hope of inspiring more gun sales. It's a level of deranged hypocrisy that fits the cowardly little creep Ollie North like a hand in a proctologist's latex glove.

From the NRA's point of view, Oliver North is an exciting choice that offers a celebrity stature to the gun extremist organization's leadership ranks on parr with the legacy of Charlton Heston.

As annoying as Charlton Heston was, Heston was still, at the end of the day, an actor. He was Moses with a flintlock.

Ollie North is something far more despicable. He is literally a man who betrayed his country while wearing a uniform and then went to prison for his role in an illegal military arms deal that crossed international borders and meddled with foreign policy.

Heston was a ham patriot. North is a sham patriot.

Apparently, the NRA doesn't give a shit anymore. They launder Russian oligarch money and then hire as their leader a soldier who betrayed his country over illegal guns deal.
