Furious at CNN’s report yesterday that Mueller had been specifically authorized to investigate Manafort, Trump went after CNN this morning: “Check out the fact that you can’t get a job at ratings challenged @CNN unless you state that you are totally anti-Trump? Little Jeff Zuker, whose job is in jeopardy, is not having much fun lately. They should clean up and strengthen CNN and get back to honest reporting!"
After the Washington Post published a piece headlined “From Mueller to Stormy to Emoluments, Trump’s Business is Under Siege,” Trump attacked the Post and its CEO, Jeff Bezos, who is also CEO of Amazon -- claiming over the weekend, without evidence, that Amazon is using the Post as a "lobbyist." Amazon’s stock price dropped yesterday.
To bottom it off, Trump has taken to praising rightwing Sinclair broadcasting: “Sinclair is far superior to CNN and even more Fake NBC, which is a total joke" -- thereby signaling support for Sinclair’s pending purchase of Tribune Media’s stations.
Democracy depends on a free press. A president’s most fundamental duty is to protect our democracy. Trump is trampling on it. Onward to Trump Repudiation Day, November 6th.
