Just like Trump, Sessions has taken no interest whatsoever in Russia hacking our democracy

Jeff Sessions displayed several moments of passion during his Tuesday testimony, but none of them had anything to do with the fact that a subversive foreign power hacked our election.

Sessions complained bitterly about smears on his reputation and "secret innuendo," but when it came to Russia trying to dictate to Americans who would be our president—nothing. Chris D'Angelo writes:

Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) asked if Sessions believed the Russians did in fact interfere.

“It appears so. The intelligence community seems to be united in that,” Sessions told King. “But I have to tell you, Sen. King, I know nothing but what I’ve read in the paper. I’ve never received any detailed briefing on how hacking occurred or how information was alleged to have influenced the campaign.”

King mentioned an Oct. 9 memorandum from the intelligence community that he said detailed what the Russians were up to. “After the election, before the inauguration, you never sought any information about this rather dramatic attack on our country?”

“No,” Sessions said.

Stunning. In his opening statement, Sessions almost seemed interested in Russia's meddling:

I appreciate the committee's critically important efforts to investigate Russian interference with our democratic processes.

Such interference can never be tolerated and I encourage every effort to get to the bottom of any such allegations...

...but I'll never actually inquire about it myself or so much as seek a briefing on it. Just like Trump—who never once asked former FBI director James Comey about Russia's influence.

Seriously, shouldn’t these guys give a damn about Russia hacking our democracy? Or is the real motto: Make America Russian?
