Instead he went off script and off the rails for 1 hour and 17 minutes, blasting the "out of control" dishonesty of the mainstream media, and accusing reporters of distorting facts to help “special interests.”
What “special interests was he referring to?” Probably not the rich, like him, or corporate executives or Wall Street – since he’s filled his administration with them. Is he referring to blacks, Latinos, Muslims, Mexican immigrants, and Jews – the kind of people who inhabit places like New York, Los Angeles, and Washington?
And what’s the media’s motive for being dishonest, in Trump’s mind? “The media is trying to attack our administration because they know we are following through on pledges we made and they are not happy about it, for whatever reason."
Trump continues to confuse truthful reporting – about the consequences of his Muslim travel ban, the firing of his national security advisor Michael Flynn, the contacts between his aides and Russian operatives during and after his campaign, his lies about voter fraud and so much else – for media dishonesty.
He’s either delusional, paranoid, or utterly ignorant. I suspect all three. "I turn on the TV and open the newspaper and sees stories of chaos,” he said. “Chaos. Yet it is the exact opposite. This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine.”
Really?
And Trump continues to lie bigly. "People came out and voted like they’ve never seen before,” he said. In fact, he lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, and, contrary to his assertion, his electoral college victory wasn’t largest margin since Reagan. Pressed on this, Trump blamed faulty facts.“I was given that information,” he said. “Well, I don’t know, I was given that information.”
The President of the United States has a serious personality disorder. And his raving lies and baseless attacks on the press are doing terrible damage to the truth.
What do you think?
