Conservative bigots love this poster because it features one of the "good ones." He allowed himself and his followers to be beaten and humiliated, thrown in jail, despised, trampled on and even killed. They didn't set fires as they were attacked, but took the beatings without complaint. True bigots liked (and still like) that about him.
And not throwing one brick or setting a single fire? It's a lie. Google the race riots that took place in cities all across the United States in the 1950's and 1960's. I lived in Rochester, NY in the early sixties and clearly remember the race riots that tore the city apart. I call bullshit on the selective memories of these conservative pricks.
And then there's the more important point - how did he change the world? Did racism end? Are all of the problems between the races now solved? Did the bigots give up their bigotry? What REALLY bothers the bigots is that now the violence is raging again as the minorities fight back. But it ALWAYS comes to this in epic struggles like this. The Native Americans fought back. The Chinese immigrants fought back. The Irish immigrants fought back. And the black people are fighting back.
And thus it always is. For a certain group of people, they always need someone to hate, and the hated fight back.
