I'm a humanist. I don't believe there is any God or god-like force watching over us and helping us win our basketball game. I don't believe we get our genetics from a god-like being that controls which sperm gets to the egg first and gives us the ability to be the football star. Not when we can watch starvation right before our eyes, not when we can watch TV shows like the new HBO series "Vice" and see young children being put front and center in wars. The God that I was taught about as a child wouldn't allow this stuff. And if there is a God who makes the world like it is, then he is a sick fuck. I wouldn't worship him if he did exist.
I believe in people - we need to take care of one another. We get only one shot at life and we need to make the best of it. We need to do what we can to care for - feed and house - one another. When religion starts to teach that it is okay to hate and to discriminate and to turn fellow human beings away, it is a sick fucking business. Just saying.
