Guns make us safer?

We all know that if we just had a gun when we saw that bad guy do that thing. Because, you know, we are all so good at shooting and handling guns and stuff. We're the good guys so we will always do things correctly and safely. More guns - more people handling guns - a safer world? Meh - maybe not so much.
