Pistorius - sad story

I watched a lengthy report on the Pistorius murder trial in South Africa this morning and was struck by the similarities with this man and our American gun nuts. This poor fellow lived in such fear of everything in the world that he slept with loaded guns and kept other weapons at hand. On Valentine's Day morning he got out of bed, grabbed his gun, strapped on his artificial legs, crept through the house and fired, sight unseen, four times, into his bathroom. Four times - you've got to figure she yelled or screamed after the first shot, yet he shot 4 times.

Apparently he never called out to see who was there, despite the fact that he was living with his girlfriend. How insanely fearful must a person be to shoot at noises of unknown cause? To shoot up your own home? To shoot and kill the love of your life? Christ, when I took basic hunter safety classes as a child, the first fucking thing they taught us was, "Never shoot at something unless you know your target and what is behind it."

He and his family say he is not guilty of murder. This stupid asshole is guilty of nothing less. He shot her - she's dead. If that's not murder, what is it? He's clearly insane - rational people don't act out of that much fear.

Or do they? The small-dick assholes in this nation that side with the NRA also operate out of fear - fear of someone breaking into their homes. Fear of tyranny. You've got to realize that these very reasons for the right to bear arms offered up by our gun nuts, are all the more reason to take their guns away from them. They are so afraid of life that they will shoot things with only the slightest of provocation. They will shoot without knowing their target and they won't shoot just once - if they've got a 30-round clip, they'll empty that motherfucker at whatever stupid thing has scared them.

LIFE IS PRECIOUS. WE NEED GUN CONTROL - BACKGROUND CHECKS, RENEWABLE REGISTRATIONS, TRAINING CLASSES FOR ALL GUN OWNERS, A BAN ON ASSAULT RIFLES AND LARGE CAPACITY CLIPS - AND WE NEED IT YESTERDAY. BEFORE SOMEONE I LOVE IS SHOT AND KILLED BY SOME STUPID ASSHOLE.
