Still ranting...

The Patriot Act, supported by President Bush and the conservative Republicans, limits many of the freedoms we are supposedly fighting for in far-off lands like Iraq and Afghanistan.

If we do not watch these Republican bastards, they will soon be hammering the average citizen - squeezaing out even more blood so that they can fatten their wallets at our expense. Have you ever heard this one...

First they came for the Communists,
-and I didn’t speak up,
--because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
-and I didn’t speak up,
--because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
-and I didn’t speak up,
--because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
-and by that time there was no one
--left to speak up for me.

Now the Borowitz Report has posted a nifty little story on where this Patriot Act could eventually lead us. Ask yourself if this is where you want America to wind up...

HILLARY CLINTON NAMED ENEMY COMBATANT

Transferred to Guantanamo Under Provision of Patriot Act

In what some legal scholars are calling a crucial test of a controversial provision of the Patriot Act, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) was named an enemy combatant today and transferred to the U.S. detention center in Guantanamo, Cuba.

While the federal government has had a certain amount of latitude in determining who qualifies for treatment as an enemy combatant under the Patriot Act, the arrest and detention of Sen. Clinton marks the first time that the designation has been applied to a United States Senator.

Sen. Clinton was speaking out against the Patriot Act from the well of the Senate when she was seized by several federal agents who then fingerprinted and processed her for her long journey to Camp X-Ray in Guantanamo.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn) today acknowledged that the detention of one of the Democratic Party’s rising stars was setting a new precedent but argued that it was necessary for the sake of national security.

“I have worked across the aisle from Sen. Clinton for the last years and she has often shown herself to be both an enemy and combative,” Sen. Frist said. “If that doesn’t qualify her as an enemy combatant, I don’t know what does.”

At the White House, spokesman Scott McClellan denied that there was any political motivation to the arrest and detention of Sen. Clinton, telling reporters, “We fully expect Sen. Clinton to be released sometime after November of 2008.”
