Among the nefarious supporters of Donald Trump are David Duke, former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

From Robert Reich

This morning Trump refused to disavow Duke’s support, telling CNN’s Jake Tapper,
“I know nothing about David Duke; I know nothing about white supremacists.”

When asked whether he’d condemn the Klan, Trump demurred. “I don't know what group you're talking about. You wouldn't want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about. … I will do research on them and certainly I would disavow if I thought there was something wrong.”

Tapper: “I'm just talking about David Duke and the Ku Klux Klan here, but --"

Trump: “ I don't know David Duke. I don't believe I've ever met him. I'm pretty sure I didn't meet him. And I just don't know anything about him."

That the leading presidential candidate of the Republican Party refuses to disavow the Ku Klux Klan and pretends never to have heard of its former leader, marks a new low in American politics.

In reality, Trump knows his support is coming mainly from whites motivated by their fears of “others” – African-Americans, Latinos, Muslim-Americans, and all other minorities who are rapidly becoming the majority in America.
